Let’s talk adhesives! Glue, tape, foam tape – so many choices! Let’s break it down.
Glue – There’s a lot of options in the glue department. I’d recommend staying away from Elmer’s school glue (with one exception I’ll talk about in a minute!). It tends to make your paper very wrinkled as it is too wet of a glue. So what are better options? There are 3 options I hear mentioned all the time: Art Glitter Glue, Bearly Art Glue, and Tombow. The first 2 options have a fine tip applicator which is great for all those fancy pieces you are gluing into place! The one I’ve used is Art Glitter Glue and I swear by it! I get it off Amazon. Only thing you have to be careful about is ordering it when it’s too cold. So those people up in the northeast getting snowed in, right now is not the best time to order this glue!
Glue Sticks – I honestly only ever use glue sticks for one project – napkin cards. Then I used the Elmer’s disappearing purple glue stick. It’s magical on those cards!
Glue Dots – These are great for putting little things on your crafts such as a bow. I use the brand literally called Glue Dots.
Tape – I use double sided flat tape and double sided foam tape depending on my projects. I’ve used several different brands and don’t really have a preference. I get mine from Amazon. One thing I’ve used that didn’t work well for me is the tape runners that are small and fit in the palm of your hand. I have some cards I made a few years ago that have fallen apart and I had used them to put together the layers. There is some tape that is repositionable and I do use this for making triple time stamp cards. The double sided foam tape is great for adding dimension in your cards. I also use it on shaker cards!
So, overall I personally use several different types of glue and tape. They all have their purpose. Hopefully this helps you when you next need to buy some new glue!
